We handle tree removal, trimming and storm cleanup all over Buford, from downtown and Tannery Row to the neighborhoods around the Mall of Georgia and Lake Lanier. Call or text (678) 491-1254 for a free written price.
Buford mixes older in-town lots with large wooded tracts and lake-area homes near Buford Dam. North of I-985 you'll find bigger lots with thick pine stands, where we also do lot and fence-line clearing.
Buford's tree ordinance is aimed at land development. Buford's Tree Protection Ordinance applies to "any activity on real property which requires the issuance of a Land Disturbance Permit," and it specifically excludes construction of individual single-family and duplex homes (City of Buford Tree Protection Ordinance, 2015).
If you're clearing land or building, call Buford's Department of Development first. If you're in unincorporated Gwinnett with a Buford mailing address, Gwinnett County's rules apply instead (see our Hamilton Mill page).
Lake Lanier storms hit this end of the county hard. In May 2025 an EF1 tornado with winds up to 90 mph touched down on the north end of the lake near Gainesville, and "multiple large trees snapped or were uprooted" (WSB-TV). After a storm, call us any hour.
Watch your pines. Georgia logged more than 1,600 southern pine beetle spots in 2024, up from 273 the year before (UGA Bugwood Center). Needles browning from the top down and small lumps of sap on the bark are the signs. Beetle-killed pines dry out and get brittle fast, so they should come down soon.
Buford runs its own electric department, and Georgia Power and Jackson EMC also serve parts of the area.
If Jackson EMC is your power company, it keeps a right-of-way of 15 feet on each side of its lines and trims them on a four-year cycle. It tells members never to trim a tree that touches a line and to call 1-800-462-3691 for an inspection (Jackson EMC).
Lines that run pole to pole belong to the power company. Don't trim near them yourself and don't let anyone else. Call the number on your power bill first. Once the line is safe, we handle the rest of the tree.

Buford's tree ordinance applies to land disturbance projects and excludes building individual single-family homes. For one tree at an existing home, call the Department of Development before a big removal.
Gwinnett County's. Homeowners there don't need a permit unless the tree is in a zoning buffer, stream buffer or other protected area.
Yes. We clear brush, small trees and overgrowth so you can fence, build or use the land.
